Alum Acustom Wins NYC Project Pop-Up!
Just in time for New York Fashion Week, Betaspring alum Acustom Apparel was among a small group of companies named as a winner of NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Project Pop-Up NYC. The fashion-related contest provides winners, including both fashion retailers and fashion technology firms, with retail space, public relations and mentoring support, and exposure through the city during NYC's internally acclaimed Fashion Week. Over 130 firms applied, but only 11 were selected. Imagine the celebratory high fives in the hallway when we heard the good news that Acustom made the cut! Acustom Apparel uses innovative digital technologies to craft custom clothing— intelligent fit for your style and your body. A quick body scan allows Acustom to create high quality garments as unique as you. Even better, clients choose from custom cuts and a variety of washes. Acustom currently offers custom-fit denim for women and specialized suiting for men. Men’s denim and women’s suiting are in the making, so keep an eye out.
As a winner, Acustom will receive space during the month of September at Story, a 2,000-square-foot Chelsea-based store. Companies can either sell merchandise or use the space for digital demonstrations.
Winners were selected by a panel including Andy Dunn, chief executive of ecommerce menswear company Bonobos, Shana Fisher, managing partner of High Line Venture Partners, and designer Steven Alan.
